Sounds totally implausible that a payments business is not in Financial Services.
I doubt that the lawyers fees that Square will have to pay are going to be worth it.

Ah! Back to the point about democracy. PSD2 can go hang as far as the UK government are concerned as the UK will 'go it alone' from March next year. And as we get Brexit inflation limits will rise as fast as the piles of bank notes do in Venezuela.
Sink or swim......

Hmm..... not a majority then?
So if 42% is enough to make the industry think of raising the limit where does that leave democracy!
Just kidding, or am I?

This article also assumes that the FinTech companies will want to stay in the UK if we face a disasterous Brexit.
I cannot see a mass exodus in FinTech after March next year> Investement won't suddenly dry up but there will be a slow and steady drift away to a better employment and business climate, particularly if the company is a multi-national. That death-by-a-thousand-cuts will bring about the demise of the UK's leading position.
Which big, international companies would want to face extra costs just for the sake of being in the UK? I suspect none of them.

Interesting you mention that SOME banks and brokers are taking action on planning for a range of options That means that some are not.
One wonders when the Banks, Insurers and other Financial companies will be up front with the state of play in their businesses.
I'm sure investors would be interested, along with a few of the politicians. Or do they know something we don't?

I've been around long enough to believe I recognise in this report wild optimism triumphing over the grim realities. Yes, there is a market, but it's getting crowded and over-hyped to create a bubble. Look back into Financial IT's history and you'll see a similar pattern. And Brexit ain't going to help, is it? as many big players gently migrate from the UK.

What a hoot! I've been in retail payments in one form or another since the early 1970's and I have read with decreasing interest and belief of the 'death of cash' and the 'cashless society' during this time. It's a pipe dream. And who was the sample? probably all Londoners and under 30 years of age. Out here in the wilds of west Wales cash is still important, either as notes or coins, and is likely to stay so for a long time yet. You'll probably have to dig me up to tell me that the 'cahless society' has arrived.

About posting anonymosly, sorry, I did not intend to.
I still think this [article] is just a political diatribe of worthless merit.
And it seems like nobody in the know supports it.
