Ahh.. they use the word "accredited" so that may be true (althougth I was nto aware of an accrediation process in previous life).

Have you looked at Deliveroo? They have created jobs and I've not yet seen a contra effect of restaurants laying off staff as less people eat at home rather than eat out

So, this is not going well for Apple. But I wonder if there's another reason for this and that's to with the fact that iPhones have a particulary poor implementation of the NFC controller. There's evidence to show that Apple have added a booster to the chip and to give access to this may mean exposing some additional code that Apple have used to control it.
I do hope they lose, seriously hope they do and then other banks have the balls to take on Apple and force them to open the device to their own payment products.

Whilst this is good news, and Matt, I have no doubt it will be £50 very soon, the reality is that it's still being rolled out to retailers by way of configuration updates etc. Certainly BP have still not yet rolled it out judging by my experience this morning.

"From today people can authorise payment simply by using their fingerprints, with the NFC chip on their phone communicating with TfL readers on the London underground, buses and rail networks.".. not true!! There is no need to do this. You just have to tap and pay. No need to authorise.
Going to be interesting how many phones get damaged doing this of course.

Could there ever be a more misleading article? No-where that I've read have Barclaycard said this is an Apple Pay competitor. Rather it's an enhancement of existing services and products that have been available for several years.
Given the lenght of time the sticker and wristband have been out, perhaps we should have said Applepay takes on bPay?

It's not really clear just part of payments Ms Nixon is referring to here. With so many different strands, from credit card payments, bank payments and within those two segements many different areas, where are her comments aimed?
It seems to be forgotten that the general public want payments to be safe and fast. Pretty much most of the time they are. But to make that happen takes huge investment and surely it's only fair for those making that investment to get a return. More clarity is needed from the PSR with regard to this statement and just what and where she wants changes made.

Call me cynical but is it really a great result? It's £65,000 day on average. How many people have used it more than once and how many have used it to send money to more than one person.. and can they extract the Pingit related transaction? That would be for more informative.

The key to the High Value Contactless transaction here is who they have partnered with. Mastercard have, in my view, a very elegant solution allowing the device to be authenticated to allow the HV transaction.
This has been part of Contactless specs for some time now, as previously mentioned and has, in user trials, gained a lot of acceptance.
What is more interesting of course, is the partner. With Visa being the dominant issuer of contactless cards in the UK, it's a real coup for Mastercard.
But, of course, there is no date mentioned as to when this will actually be available and live. We'll have to wait (a long time?) and see.
Finally.. it looks like a decoupled debit product being used, with a Prepaid Mastercard sitting behind the actual payment card.

Ahh.. the EE product..QuickTap 2.0 ;)
A missed opportunity to do something new. Problem is, and it's a problem with NFC generally, is that it cripples the version of Android and is locked down by the MNO. Whenever Samsung or Google bring out a new version, the chances of you getting it are very slim, if at all. The proposition is not a strong one given the very limited functionality of the "wallet"
