Is David Cameron all in too? He's a proven winner at  spotting an unbelievably good fintech.

Have to smile. NatWest clearly too busy scanning the internet for cybercriminals to notice the shifty characters depositing multiple dustbin bags full of cash at their local branches.

Strangely sad to see the P2P vision dwindle and die.

Zopa genuinely deserves the title of pioneer and disruptor for its efforts in the early years of P2P, long before fintech became A Thing.

As they say in startupland: time to pivot.

I like the timing - Jan 19th - into that post-Christmas, post high street sales dead zone to minimize impact.

But it will still be interesting to monitor levels of disruption... The power of consumers' habits and levels of inertia toward change should never be under-estimated.

Following my earlier comment. Just noticed PayPal has stated it has no further interest in Pinterest. Its stock bounced up as a consequence.

Now is that the benefit of having public shareholders? To stop you from acts of strategic over-reach? 

Or is it the disadvantage of not being private and being stopped from visionary and decisive action?

Time will tell.

And elsewhere, PayPal is looking at Pinterest (reportedly).

What other fintechs are looking to own the territory upstream of the transaction, to the consumer experience that drives transactions?

This is a nice additional capability for consumers (anecdotally, the move to a £100 limit seems to raise eyebrows). Customer experience is very often about getting the details right. Good work, Lloyds.

Curious to know if Revolut is depending upon kickbacks from Order Flow to monetize its commission-free offer.

Can't help but have a nagging worry about Order Flow...

Echo that, Andrew. JPM is a trophy win for sure. And interesting to reflect that the new players are replacing core retail platforms that established vendors struggled to displace for decades. So much about success in tech is all about timing.

Interesting:

• to see a fintech (kind of) buying a very substantial horizontal solution
• and that the MailChimp team got to their $12bn exit without VC participation along the way, there are different routes that work for different businesses
