This is definitely an important step forward but remember that company ID is much more complicated than personal ID (which we don't yet have either) so I think it will be some time before there is any impact on fraud, frankly.

The story doesn't say what is in the blocks or how they are chained together. Please can you update the story with these details because many of us are very interested in the use of new technology in payments.

1. What exactly will be in the blocks?
2. How will the blocks be chained together?
3. Who will take part in the consensus-forming process?

Please adhere to the basic principles of journalism and do not post stories about applications for the blockchain unless you clearly state:
1. What will be in the blocks;
2. How the blocks are chained together, and
3. Who takes part in the consensus-forming process.
Otherwise you are just reporting on a database, which is boring.

Just for clarification, where will consumers be storing their private keys in this example? Or will Barclaycard store the private keys on behalf of the consumers?

Say 20m bank accounts, say a few hundred Kb for each to record last N transactions, a 16Gb memory card could store the whole ledger. Put debit card system on the blockchain so there's nothing in the middle to go down anymore.

Well, I wouldn't call it "quick" Jeremy, but your point is well taken. If a central bank issues digital currency, then at low interests rates or times of risk, banks will be starved of deposit. Come and listen to the Postive Money view on this at our Forum next month.
P.S. How does multi-sig help to get money back from the bad guys if the concert tickets never show up, for example?
