It's 2020 and the climate emergency has been recognised for years - so why has it taken Visa so damn long to take this action? This should have been mandated years ago!

The banks have all invested in creating a solution to enable access to cash in the UK via the Post Office. Why is UK Finance wasting more time and money on a solution that would compete with the Post Office solution? 

Barclays management should step in and reverse this decision ASAP. They committed to the government and the regulator that closing half their network would not be too detrimental to the public as they had their deal with the Post Office. Now they want to save a few pennies and dump the primary service.
As a Barclays customer, I find this a disgrace.  

A quick search on https://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder# and it seems all of these locations have a Post Office. I can think of many ways £1m could benefit these communities much better than filling the pockets of an IAD.

I'm surprised the retailers will automatically get 12p when all interchange (and in this case effectively reverse-interchange) and costs are negotiated with the acquirer. 

ICS cost the industry so much money I can’t imagine there is a business case possible to spend any more on this method of payment. The world has moved on - cheques DO need to be phased out.

Even if the UK sees sense and calls a halt to this self-defeating disaster, those moves will now be so far down the path they are unlikely to be reversed.
