How confident can we be that this bank will EVER turn a profit? As Andrew Lillico points out in his article, UK tax-payers have seen for 9 straight years a cumulative loss of over £58bn since the bank was rescued at 500p a share during the 2008/2009 bailouts. It's worth just half that at £29bn today.

Costs to do so however are high from the major providers, whereas companies like OmniPayments and some others are offering lower-risk alternatives.

as Melvyn H stated, using Brexit as an excuse is lazy and disingenuous. Plans were already afoot; The reality is that much as we all like to think we have a branch close by, increasingly we're using digital platforms for our banking. These bank utlities are going to find it hard to differentiate themselves from one another.

@stevenHatton, I'm thinking the same way, it flies in the face of where the regulators are urging the payments industry to go. Something as key as our national payments processor, responsible for the majority of monthly salary payments, now owned by a Card Scheme.

For time-poor consumers this might be attractive, but for those of us who are more concerned about what we eat and where it comes from, then the freedom to chose what and where to buy it from is much more important. Personally after all the stuff hits my hallway floor, I'd prefer a robot to load it into my fridge...
