Staying out of the arguments. I now use the IRIS system at Heathrow and love it. As an American who lives in the UK, I always had to wait in the long line and my passport got stamped every time I entered the UK. (which caused me to have to get extra pages).
Now, I just walk through the IRIS booths. I do think that sucess works well. (however, one of the reasons it is nice is because I tend to be the only person using the booths--not sure what it would be like waiting in line with a crowd of people.)

Yes, but Cruz, ahem, retired after a $3.7 billion write down. Not after slipping on her Manolos down a staircase at Morgan Stanley.
I though of another one! Networking events with food and drink, highlight the lack of pockets in womens' clothing. Where do you keep those business cards?

I listened to that same report on Radio 4! My first thought was all the doomsayers in the middle 1990s who used to tell me "you just wait, the Internet is due for a massive brown-out or even black out--you just wait, it is all going to break down before the year 2000".
Yes, breath, thankfully, not held.

What's it like there this year? (not attending this year). SIFMA/SIA TMC has felt a bit depressed the past few years.
Never mind the fact that it regualry has the worst equipted, worst staffed press room in the universe of global trade shows.
Has it pepped up a bit?

Or just lower your cleaning standards! Learn to love dust. (and encourage husband/partners' cleaning activities by ingorning the lack of hospital corners)
Once you have put a child in the equation of work/family/life balance--let cleaning slip further down the priority list.

Interesting point about trading on information from online news or blogs. But I think that issue may move into the concept of machine-readable news which can be used with algorithimic trading systems.
Aren't blogs, by their nature, more analyical? Shound't there be a distinction between online news, real-time market data news and blogging? Or are the lines becomming blurred?

I have to admit I did think of you when reading the article! One glass of red wine should protect most super-blogger's hearts, I say.

I am glad to see someone shed some light on the often ignored corporate action problem. I have heard from many on the data management side that many corporate action vendors will probably be out of business in a few years if an organization like Google decides to get into the industry and starts offering services!
We all know how important clean, accuracte data is to the trading business. But the idea that corporate actions is nothing more than diary dates is still very much ingrained in this industry.

Yes, Facebook does seem to be walking a thin line. While I have managed to refrain from posting pictures of myself in a bikini on my profile, the site does offer silly social things like 'SuperPoke' and Movie quizzes.
My Linkin profile is all just business.
However, I have had a number of headhunters contact me through Facebook. So it does have potential. I agree with you that the kinks on Facebook will be probably be worked out soon.
