Congrats to Mr Shah! SWIFT should evolve faster in my humble opinion. I know, it is easy to say this and HARD to execute, implement, deliver, do.

Why is this OPEN BANKING? What exactly is the OPEN BANKING aspect of this?

Real time, instant, free local currency clearing systems can get this done as well. Am I right? 

Yes, a typical Data Ecosystem mov. Well done! Makes sense! Building a data-ecosystem around a bank is a complex and hard task. "Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed." OK. Yes, the price of the transaction matters but I suspect the buyprice was reasonable and carefully calculated. Synergy is there. 

1. Building a bank is expensive. 
2. Simplicity and focus help to limit costs (everything unchanged).
3. We can look at Starling Bank vs Monzo and see the difference in terms of focus and simplicity. 
4. This strategic difference is mirrored back to us when we compare the P&L statement of the two entities.
5. I respect both entities: Starling as well as Monzo.

Very very very exciting. This will be an important case study. I am VERY interested in their STRATEGY. How they want to win, which their KPIs are. Will they pull the plug after 4-5-6-7 years without profit? Or do they have a recipe to bring this digital subsidiary to profit earlier??? Vefry very exciting!!!!!!!!
