I think Mastercard is applying higher interchange to EEA cards used with UK merchants but Visa is not.

I'd take the claim that this is the only solution integrated with Oracle (Micros) with a pinch of salt. QkR!, for example, seems to work very happily at Wagamama which is a leading Oracle ePOS client.

This is not a particularly helpful article. I wonder if the readership of Finextra could add some details on what were these "illegal card fees" and whether any other retailers are impacted?

The fintech boom is fuelled by (1) we can set up in London and trade across the EEA with a UK licence (2) we can hire the brightest and best from across Europe (3) there is an eco-system of support (4) the regulatory environment eg PSD2 is highly favourable.

Remove the UK for the single market and we risk losing all of these. 

Deloitte report that 3% of UK consumers have used their mobile to make a purchase in-store. I wonder if that is all Starbucks?

Standard contactless chip & PIN machines are the best route for grocers, bakers and laundretttes. Mobile POS linked to smartphones (the mPOWA route) is unusable in most real-world retail environments - too slow, too complex.
