Totaly agree with Kevin...call it audit trail, AML, reducing any black market...or whatever. It will reduce personal options for choice.

While you will have a demographic that will do things the way they've done it before, and that may be a generational change, the reality is a little more complex, consider what real alternatives are customers offered? All too often Banks think give them an app, more is required to redirect long standing habits. Why is it that I might go into a branch once a year? No one from my Bank has asked me and I suspect that the same Bank has not asked the guy who goes weekly or monthly to the same Branch....maybe asking that question will provide Banks with a clearer picture for their transformation, but transform they must.

Not exactly a discrete dongle! But it does have contactless capability, which means any transaction above the Issuer nominated threshold and then you'd enter a PIN.

I like the way you think Marcelo. If Banks want to control their brand and relationship why give it away to a third party with all that entails! The real issue is having a common standard were acceptance is uniform ubiquitous as is currently the case with my physical card transactions.

A great concept and eager to see results over next few months, any organisation promoting or seeing itself as an "innovator" should work to make it happen....

Stickers, NFC or any form of contactless payment process is hindered by one key obstacle the transaction limit...spend a little more and you have to 'dip' a card into the reader, try doing that with your phone....no matter how thin it might be! Then as you have found out it come to interoperability and acceptance. You are right to do end-toend testing though, well done.

It would seem that while the west is trying to overcomplicate the offering with too many fingers in the pie.......Africa is just getting on with finding simple solutions to mobile transactions, maybe there is something to be learned from this continent.
M-Pesa may not be as sophisticated but does what most want from a mobile transaction, a transaction. Still Apple Pay will be an interesting mix to the likes of telco-complex offerings and maybe even HCE.

I think Apple see the writing on the wall and while there was some measure of fanfare, it looks like a product that will work seamlessly and may be easier for Banks to roll out. Keep in mind that it's gone down the tokenization path, this will be great for merchants trying hard to implement/maintain PCI.
