I am facinated that when 70% of the market in Africa still has feature phones, why as part of your digital strategy and inclusive banking you state ..The next wave of app-based banking services ...etc. Apps do not work on Feature phones.

Is it digital only banks that are losing their appeal or the fact that many of them do not offer lending as per the traditional bank model. I would think that a digital only bank is growing in appeal for transactional functionality and even savings. If we are saying that banks = lending, then the headline and supporting research is probably correct.

This is very concerning considering that most illegal activities, monely laundering and funding of terrorist activities etc are utilising cash. Digitalisation offers a solution to all the supposed benefits listed of cash PLUS the advantage of a full audit trial - If only it was easier to open a bank account. By keeping the barriers to financial access in place, the "baddies" will always find the route of least resistance - cash. Problems become worse not better.
