This is an interesting report. BNPL seems to target vulnerable market segments.

I would disagree with the statement that this is the most flexible solution in the market.... this may be true in local markets but many Middle Eastern banks have been offering sophisticated BNPL Installment loans or 'Easy Payment Plans' on their credit cards for many years. Cardholders can combine balances or convert single transactions, via; App, Call Center, SMS, or at POS. However, this is going to be how Issuing banks will fight back against BNPL players, with this technology applied to Credit, Debit and even Prepaid. Competition is good!

This is a brilliant initiative, as i can remember how hard it was to go from weekly pay check, to two-weekly and then monthly...... it takes some financial discipline and planning to get by..... but i made it...... There is a case for this sort of service, there is also a case for financial education and teaching our youngsters financial discipline.... I know that many people live playcheque to paycheque, now people will be able to live day to day..... Lets hope this is only used in emergencies and that it does not become a habit. I fear my hopes will be smashed.
