With regards to the BBVA linked story regarding their HCE enabled mobile App, the BBVA Innovation Center promises the ability to link accounts or existing physical cards with the wallet eliminating the need to re-charge the wallet as transactions can be debited directly to the linked acount. The customer will receive a virtual card for their wallet that they can use for internet payments and for payments using HCE/NFC enabled vendor terminals.
The walllet provides geo-location of transactions, the ability to link receipt images with transactions and to receive notifications of transactions to help prevent fraud.
The bank also provides a contactless sticker that can be stuck to the customers smartphone to allow contactless payment for situations where the terminal does not support HCE/NFC capability.
With WestPac NZ (and others) also trialling HCE based payments could this spell the beginning of the end for the physical wallet stuffed full of cards?
The BBVA mobile App is available for Android and Apple but no mention of a Windows version on their website. The odd thing is that the mobile wallet is not mentioned on the main BBVA website, maybe you have to be a customer to get an invite?
