University with a difference

If you want to delve into the technology of the future, Singularity University may just be the place for you. Backed by Google and Nasa, the school is headed by Ray Kurzweil, an inventor / scientist / futuregazer, who believes that computers will become more intelligent than humans and who plans to live forever.

The institution will offer courses on artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and biotechnology. Kurzweil says “one of the objectives of the university is to really dive in depth into these exponentially growing technologies, to create connections between them and to apply these ideas to the great challenges” facing humanity. However it’s based in Silicon Valley in California and a nine week course will set you back $25,000. And it’s not actually a credited university, despite the name. But if you fancy yourself as a technological entrepreneur then it may be worth a try.
