In his new position as managing director, Mr. Oxner will be responsible for federal government relations in SIFMA's office in Washington, D.C.

"Dave brings to SIFMA his knowledge and past experience in several policy positions with both the Senate Banking and House Financial Services Committees," said Kenneth E. Bentsen Jr., executive vice president of public policy and advocacy at SIFMA. "SIFMA and our members are looking forward to the insight and counsel Dave can provide on the current regulatory and legislative landscape."

Mr. Oxner joins SIFMA from the U.S. Senate where he served as a policy advisor to Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas). In that position, Mr. Oxner provided counsel to Senator Moran in his capacity as an active member of the Banking Committee and as the top Republican on the Financial Services Appropriations Subcommittee, which funds the Treasury Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Prior to joining Senator Moran's staff, Mr. Oxner served the House of Representatives for more than eight years as a senior professional staffer on the Committee on Financial Services where he advised and organized the members and staff on behalf of Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-Alabama) and Chairman Mike Oxley (R-Ohio). During his time there, he worked extensively on the financial regulatory reform effort that would become the Dodd-Frank Act.

Mr. Oxner earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College.
