SGX appoints Muthukrishnan Ramaswami senior EVP

Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) today announced the appointment of Mr Muthukrishnan Ramaswami, 49, as Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) with effect from 1 July 2007.

This follows the recent appointment of Mr Chew Sutat as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Head of Development. With these appointments, the Senior Management Team has been further strengthened with a total of three SEVPs and seven EVPs.

The reorganisation exercise that took place in December last year saw the formation of a combined Operations and Technology group which will be headed by Mr Ramaswami as Chief Operations Officer. His charter will include market control, clearing and settlement, depository operations, IT planning and governance, IT solutions and services delivery.

Mr Ramaswami will be supported by Mr Chew Hong Gian, EVP, who will relinquish his current role as Head of Technology to assume the role of Head of Operations. Mr Daniel Tan, EVP and current Head of Operations, will take on a new role as Head of Retail Business and Development. Mr Tan will report to Mr Seck Wai Kwong, SEVP and Head of Post Trade and Retail Business.

Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, CEO of SGX, said, "We are very happy to have Mr. Ramaswami in our management team. He comes with more than 20 years of world-wide experience in operations and technology. He will strengthen the alignment of operations and technology with the business to ensure that SGX stays ahead in the rapidly evolving marketplace."

Mr Ramaswami will join SGX from Citigroup Global Consumer Bank where he was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for its International Consumer Business, based in New York. He was responsible for technology delivery in 42 countries. Mr Ramaswami has a proven track record of driving project execution, expense management, implementing technology and operations strategies. He previously held senior executive positions in Citigroup's international and regional offices.

Mr Ramaswami holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics (Hons) from Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, and also a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies (Masters in Business Administration) from the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad.
