The new feature means that with just one click people can donate to the tens of thousands of charities signed up to the PayPal Giving Fund. Previously donors had to leave the app.

PayPal says that last year 38.7 million people donated $6.6 billion through its platform, 23% of it on mobile devices.

Separately, former PayPal boss David Marcus is making his mark at Facebook Messenger, which is testing a new design to make its P2P payments feature more prominent.
