Target chief information officer quits

Target chief information officer Beth Jacob has become the latest victim of the massive card data breach at the beleaguered US retailer, resigning her position with immediate effect Wednesday.

In a statement released to the Associated Press, Target's President and CEO Gregg Steinhafel says the company will search for an interim chief information officer as its overhauls its information security and compliance division.

Target has hired Promontory Financial Group to help it evaluate its technology structure, processes and talent.

The company is also searching for a new chief information security officer and chief compliance officer.

In its Q4 results statement at the end of February, Target warned that the pre-Christmas breach at the firm - which exposed the card details of over 100 million shoppers - may have a material adverse effect on Target's results in first quarter and full-year 2014 and "future periods".
