DBS Bank targets Gen Y with branch design contest

DBS Bank has launched a contest calling on young Singaporeans to submit ideas for the design of a new 'youth branch'.

DBS says the branch, set to open later this year, will seek to "appeal to the lifestyle of the younger segment and meet their evolving financial needs in a unique and engaging way".

Participants can submit their ideas for the branch until 30 July as part of the 'I-Designed-A-Bank' contest, which is open to individuals or teams of up to four with one open category and one for under 26 year olds. There will be three winners per category with cash prizes of S$5000, S$4000 and S$3000 for first, second and third places.

Jeremy Soo, MD and head, consumer banking group Singapore, DBS, says: "At DBS, we believe it is important to connect with the younger generation. We want them to express themselves, register their say in the future of branches and tell us how DBS can best meet their banking needs."

The contest is part of DBS's partnership with *Scape, a non-profit initiative set up by the government that is creating an area specifically for young people. The area is set to officially open this month and, as well as potentially having their branch concepts bought to life, shortlisted contestants will also have entries displayed at the DBS *Scape branch.
