Launched in Spain last December, BBVA Wallet has already been downloaded more than 250,000 times, making it the most popular bank app for mobile payments in Spain, claims the firm.

The wallet lets customers make contactless payments, and was the first offering from a major bank to tap host card emulation technology, bypassing the mobile operators and their control of the Secure Element.

Taking advantage of this freedom, BBVA is now concentrating on quickly rolling out the technology in other countries, beginning with the US, Mexico and Chile.

Mehmet Sezgin, global payment systems director, BBVA, says: "Our goal is to make BBVA Wallet a global product and make it available in every country in which we operate."

Anyone knows who is the solution provider for BBVA Wallet? especially the HCE part?
