Customers using Birdback's card-linked offers service simply pick an offer on a deal site like VoucherCloud, put in the 16 digits from their payment card and automatically activate the discount when they pay in store.

The London-based firm says the approach can see adoption rates as high as 350% of vouchers and loyalty cards by streamlining the redemption process.

Once a deal has been accepted from a particular retailer, new offers can be activated automatically.

Birdback, which secured a £2.4 million funding round in February, says offers can be activated anywhere, by any customer of any bank or deal site, distinguishing it from solo bank or retailer competitors.

Nicolai Watzenig, founder and CEO, of Birdback will be speaking at the two-day Finextra Future Money conference taking place at Level39 in Canary Wharf in April.

I wonder how that will work when tokenization and non-EMV payments kick in?..
