Dublin-based banking technology vendor CR2 Group has won a contract to implement its BankWorld and CardWorld solutions to retail bank Stanbic Africa, a division of Standard Bank Investment Corporation.
Stanbic has been using CR2's ATM solution since 1994 to provide an ATM service to its customers in Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Namibia and Lesotho. Over the next few years, CR2 will provide Stanbic with over 400 ATM and 7,000 point-of-sale (POS) services across 12 countries throughout Africa, including Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania and Zambia.
Customers will use services such as cash withdrawal, foreign currency, account enquiries, statements, requests and 24x7 access to account information at available ATM touch-points.
CR2’s new ATM software, BankWorld ATM Client, is based on the international XFS standard (Extended Financial Services). This provides increased remote fault management, software distribution and customisation of ATM screen content using enhanced graphic capabilities, says the company.
The CR2 network will be connected to the domestic ATM and POS network as well as the South African Switch (SASwitch), providing non-Stanbic customers in South Africa with access to Stanbic ATMs.
CardWorld Issuer will enable Stanbic staff to take full control of their African-wide debit card services. These include issuance of Visa Electron and Maestro-branded cards.
