As reported by TechCrunch, the temporary store will be open for 3-and-a-half months to provide real-time demos of PayPal's up-and-coming technologies for high street retailers.

In September, the company announced plans to roll out a "one-stop shop" for merchants, covering the whole shopping lifecycle from 'acquisition', to 'conversation' and 'retention'. The retailer push includes the use of geo-location technologies and retailer inventories on mobile phones and QR code scanning and discounting to encourage loyalty and repeat shopping.

The firm revealed earlier this year that it has lined up trials of its point-of-sale system with a major US retailer, and plans to have up to 20 outfits operating the service during 2012.
