Verifone teams with Commidea for mobile eftpos terminal

E-payments technology vendor Verifone has lanuched Ocius, a mobile eftpos terminal developed in conjunction with Commidea, a UK-based provider of card payment processing systems.

Verifone says the Ocius terminal is the first in the UK to carry payment transactions over a GPRS network.

Ocius is based on VeriFone's Omni 3600 portable wireless terminal. The Omni 3600 supports IP and WAP standards, is is EMV and PED compliant and supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security and 3DES encryption.

Simon Wilding, managing director, Commidea, says: "Ocius is ideal for retail environments, enabling payment acceptance anywhere in the store."
