Innovate Finance, the independent membership organisation for the UK’s global FinTech sector, today announced that the Board of Directors has appointed Lawrence Wintermeyer as its next Chief Executive Officer.
Wintermeyer succeeds Innovate Finance founding CEO Claire Cockerton, who will resume her leadership at Entiq (formerly Pivotal Innovations) – the consultancy that led the design, development and launch of Innovate Finance. She will continue to be involved with Innovate Finance in a global ambassadorial capacity.
Alastair Lukies, Non-Executive Chairman of Innovate Finance said: ‘Thanks to Claire and the team, Innovate Finance has built great momentum through its launch phase and thanks go to Claire for her energy, drive and ambition. Lawrence is a seasoned, international executive with great insights into the FinTech space from an investment, strategy and delivery perspective and will help to support the organisation as it grows in size and influence. ‘
Innovate Finance’s new CEO brings over 20 years of financial services and technology experience to the organisation. During his impressive career he has acted as an advisor, executive and board member to successfully build, grow, and divest companies from seed capital start-ups to global blue-chip brands across the financial services, TMT and energy sectors.
Wintermeyer began his management consultancy career in London, working in financial services on large client engagements across the insurance and banking sectors with the firms EY and Deloitte. In recent years he has worked in venture capital on a range of financial services and technology plays.
As the CEO of Integrasco, an early stage VC financed company leading the market in social and media intelligence, big data analytics, and technology, Wintermeyer led the young team of entrepreneurs to grow the company to a successful exit.
As the Chairman of NEF Funds Management, an alternative asset manager for the Nordic energy and global commodities sectors, he was responsible for raising new capital and strategically restructuring the business to a UCITS management company and funds, prior to finalising a trade sale.
Wintermeyer will be responsible for supporting Innovate Finance’s initiatives to scale up the organisation to better service members interests, increase the membership base, manage community stakeholder relationships, and roll out its strategy across the UK.
Commenting on his appointment Wintermeyer said: “Innovate Finance has quickly emerged as a powerful voice for FinTech that is truly helping to revolutionise the world of financial services. I am extremely proud to be selected to lead the company and to seize new opportunities to transform the finance sector through innovation and to promote the best possible business environment for this growth.”
