Calypso Technology, a leading provider of capital markets software, announced today it will be introducing Calypso Automated Testing Tool (CATT), a premier software automated testing solution, specifically designed to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and implementation risk by enabling customers to minimize the time and costs associated with the software testing required prior to upgrades and new installations by up to 40%.
CATT includes a suite of pre-configured test cases based on common business logic that is deployed on an easy-to-use web interface. Calypso is the first capital markets software provider to deliver a robust automated testing solution for its cross-asset front-to-back office platform.
CATT is also available as an integral part of Calypso Testing Services, a managed services offering, to deliver a powerful combination of automated software testing and intellectual manpower. The Testing Services arm of Calypso’s Professional Services is dedicated to providing clients with superior end-to-end testing solutions and support processes. It is one of the key offerings of Calypso’s new Managed Service Center based in Dublin, Ireland.
Software testing consumes more resources than any other phase of software development. According to a November 2014 PriceWaterhouseCoopers Study entitled “An ounce of prevention: Why financial institutions need automated testing,” manual test cases on average require 2,100 hours of execution time for ten cycles, while implementing automated test cases requires on average 1,270 hours, or 40% fewer hours.
“CATT will transform the way our industry performs testing of its software solutions through automation and standardization,” said Keith O’Brien, SVP of Calypso Professional Services and visionary behind CATT. “In addition, CATT is available as part of a complete managed service to further reduce the maintenance, staff and hardware typically required for pre-production testing.”
CATT supports and mirrors the full business logic and processes in Calypso in the test environment. CATT is unique in that it will translate functional requirements to repeatable test scripts that are presented via a web-based user interface. Built on the basis of the data-centric and key value based approaches, CATT integrates critical functionality such as reconciliation and regression testing. It leverages the native language of Calypso software, the open technologies of JBOSS and Java, to enable seamless testing in a development environment. Using CATT, customers can achieve shorter time to market with reduced implementation times.
“Our vision is to develop CATT as the foundation for all project management, release management, maintenance and configuration management - to not only augment implementations but to create value for customer throughout the entire product lifecycle,” states O’Brien.
