UL is the only company to support testing of the personalization of mobile applications from MasterCard and Visa for cloud-based payments and other secure element-based payment applications. US (Debit) related profiles and specifications are also supported in this release.

Besides physical payment cards, the EMV PVT 4.0 now also supports testing of mobile applications based on HCE, cloud-based, eSE, UICC, mSD as well as NFC tags, smart watches or any other form factor that an issuer would like to use to issue any payment product.

Maxim Dyachenko, Service Line Manager Test Tools at UL’s Transaction Security division states: “The EMV PVT 4.0 is by far the most used personalization validation tool in the market. We continuously strive to make our products better, easier to use and more complete in coverage of personalization validation requirements. The EMV PVT 4.0 covers both all major global payments schemes, as well as local domestic payment schemes, including US (debit) related profiles. We are extremely proud to launch this comprehensive flag ship product. It fits seamlessly with other UL payment test tools covering the testing of personalization of mobile applications for cloud-based payment and other secure element-based applications. For example, using the Collis EMV PVT 4.0 in combination with the Collis Host Test would enable an issuer to test their HCE and tokenization implementation end-to-end.” Any EMV card application, Secure Element application or cloud-based payment application can now easily be checked according to the latest (test) specifications from EMVCo, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB, Discover, Union Pay and others. With the EMV PVT 4.0, issuers are able, with just one click of the button, to store, validate, retrieve, and examine all personalization data of EMV smart card applications such as chip, magnetic stripe, embossing data, asymmetric keys and PIN. The new wizard functionality guides through the entire card personalization validation process step-by-step making validation testing easy.

Moreover, the new functionality supports testing different types of cryptography on the card, including online cryptography, offline cryptography, CBP Cryptography, PIN verification and e-Commerce.

The EMV PVT 4.0 validates card personalization profiles for all major payment schemes including MasterCard CPV, Visa, JCB, Discover and Diners Club, American Express and UnionPay as well as domestic schemes, such as: Interac, The Exchange, Cabal, ELO, MEPS and SPAN. The tool has been developed in close cooperation with VISA, MasterCard and JCB. It is officially confirmed and used by Visa and JCB. It is also the first tool officially qualified as a MasterCard Card Personalization Validation (CPV) Test Tool to prepare the formal certification.
