Firefox flares up at swift.com

Financial messaging network Swift has been bigging up the switch over to its new corporate Web presence for the past few weeks now. The new site went live at the weekend, so I thought I'd pop over there today and see how it was bedding in.

What a horror show - text scattered all over the page, huge chunks that fail to render. The usual teething problems I thought, making a mental note to revisit the site later in the day when the engineers have had a chance to clean things up.

So, imagine my surprise when I checked in this afternoon to find the same crazy lay-out served up by my browser.

And then it struck me. I wonder what this looks like in Internet Explorer? Switching out of my Firefox default and logging in using iE, the new Swift.com magically appeared in all it glory.

Looks like a great improvement. Clearly a lot of work has gone into the reboot with Swift rebuilding the site from the ground-up in an effort to cater to an ever-expanding community of users.

What a shame, then, that the Webmasters in Brussels forgot to cater for the 20% of the online population that use Firefox.

Hi Paul – I applaud both your choice of browser and your weekend reading material! More seriously, thanks for visiting the new www.swift.com. You’re right to say that a lot of work went into it and I’m delighted to see it getting noticed.

For those of you who would like to comment on the redesign, we’ve opened a discussion forum at: www.swiftcommunity.net/communities/thread_detail.cfm?id=670

To pick-up on Peter’s question about "re-doing" swiftcommunity.net, all I can say at this stage is: watch this space! Let's put it this way, we’re going to be very busy between now and Sibos...
