Braintree opens up Coinbase private beta

Source: Braintree

Braintree created the v.zero SDK as an open platform, giving merchants access to the most sophisticated payment tools and the most relevant payment methods via a single integration.

Last fall, realizing that bitcoin had gained relevance for our customers, we announced our partnership with Coinbase -- a trusted bitcoin payment processor with 2.2M consumer wallets and 38,000 merchants globally -- to enable our merchants to accept bitcoin. Today, our initial integration with Coinbase is complete and we are opening up private beta access to allow merchants in the U.S. to accept bitcoin via v.zero.

Bitcoin is growing in popularity for consumer and merchants alike. Businesses like Overstock.com, Expedia and Dell currently accept bitcoin as a form of payment, and the number of companies both small and large working to enable bitcoin acceptance is on the rise. We've partnered with Coinbase to make it easy and secure for merchants to accept bitcoin and for consumers to pay via bitcoin.

In addition to bitcoin, merchants can accept credit and debit cards, PayPal with 162M active global customers, Venmo -- which in Q4 2014 processed more $900M in mobile payment volume -- and Apple Pay. We'll continue to support new payment methods as they become relevant to our customers.

This is just the beginning. With just a few lines of code and a click of a button, merchants using v.zero will be able to add new payment methods and features we support in minutes.
