A Premier League football club has begun trialling a digital wallet from Manchester-based 2ergo that lets supporters download coupons to their handsets for use within the stadium.
In a statement, Aim-listed 2ergo says that the unnamed club is testing its podifi platform for the rest of the season ahead of a full roll-out during the 2013-14 campaign.
The club-branded digital wallet not only enables supporters to download coupons for use within the stadium but also collect loyalty points, place off-line bets and view club-related content.
Meanwhile, the technology will enable the club to collect valuable customer data within its stadium, corporate suites and in-house gaming facilities.
Trinity College Dublin, University College Birmingham and food services outfit Compass Group have all also signed for the 2ergo mobile couponing technology.
