Dutch astronaut André Kuipers to open Swift Innotribe with keynote speech

Source: Swift

The return of this year’s SWIFT Innotribe will begin with a keynote speech from Dutch astronaut André Kuipers.

André, a physician and European Space Agency astronaut, is the first Dutchman with two space missions to his name. His second mission was the longest spaceflight in European history at that time. André will inspire Innotribe participants with the bigger picture, sharing his insights into the power of teamwork, how to be innovative and inspirational and what seeing Earth from space actually taught him.

Mission PromISSe

In total, André has spent 204 days in space: 11 days during mission DELTA in 2004 and 193 days during mission PromISSe in 2011-12. After years of training in Houston, Moscow, Cologne, Montreal and Tokyo, mission PromISSe launched André and his two crew members from Kazakhstan on 21 December 2011, arriving at the International Space Station to live and work for six months. On board he was not only a medical doctor, scientist and flight engineer, but also handyman and ambassador for several charities. On the 1 July 2012, André returned to Earth and landed in his space capsule in the Kazakh steppe.

Looking towards the world of 2040

At the heart of Discover, SWIFT Innotribe will take participants on a journey looking towards the world of 2040. Innotribe will cover areas such as decentralised finance, the future of sustainability and future scenarios and breakthroughs in quantum. A ‘conference within a conference’, Innotribe will include the flagship panel ‘The Future of Money’ and last year’s highly successful Tribal Gathering, which will feature a diverse range of future scenarios for the world of money.
