A group of Geneva’s most innovative organizations have come together under the patronage of the State of Geneva, to form the Geneva Fintech Association.

Together they aim to promote the development of new technologies in the field of fintech (financial technologies), especially when it comes to crowdfunding and distributed ledger technologies (DLT). It aims to develop educational initiatives around these new technologies, connect key players from across the global fintech ecosystem, and facilitate debate around the latest developments.

Founded on 4 March 2019, the association’s founding members include financial solutions provider Geneva Management Group (GMG), digital educational institute CREA, law firm Ochsner & Associés, blockchain solution provider We Can Group, and fundraising experts the Swiss Crowdfunding Association. The benefits of bringing together players, from different professional spheres, all aimed at fintech promotion, will deliver an increase in collaboration, knowledge and global footprint. One way in which knowledge will be shared is through the organization of regular events and conferences.

“With the evolution of fintech, which is taking an increasingly important role in the global financial space, it only makes sense to advocate for its growth in an established and dynamic financial center like Geneva, already known for its exceptional competence,” says Frederic Dumonal from CREA, who first conceptualized the association.

Each member of the association is an equal player, with the focus being on collective growth rather than individual gain. An example of this is the fact that the presidency of the association will rotate on an annual basis.

“We believe in education, collaboration and collective debate,” says GMG’s Sebastien Flak, who is the association’s inaugural chairman. “Everything we do will be informed by these values, enabling us to best serve the fintech community and promote the technologies that power it.”

The association’s further aim is to unite the growing Geneva fintech ecosystem of individuals, associations and companies under its umbrella organised in different dedicated chapters such as wealthtech, AI, etc.
