Norddeutsche Landesbank, or NORD/LB for short, one of Germany's leading banks, has commissioned Wincor Nixdorf to take over central operations management of its IT infrastructure effective July 1, 2013. The contract, with a seven-year term, has a total volume of more than 150 million euros.

As an outsourcing partner Wincor Nixdorf will hence be responsible from the middle of next year for operating a significant part of the information technology at NORD/LB. Initially, Wincor Nixdorf will take over operational support of the existing IT infrastructure. It will then subsequently migrate all the central infrastructure components to its own data centers and optimize technologies and IT processes on an ongoing basis to ensure sustainably efficient IT operations.

The services cover the operation of two data centers, 400 server systems and 7,000 workstation systems, providing and updating software and applications for these systems, and operating 200 databases, the network and all communications equipment. In addition, Wincor Nixdorf will provide a user help desk to deal with queries and problems that can be solved by the user. Wincor Nixdorf will provide the services at its sites in Paderborn, Bonn Hamburg and Prague.

"By commissioning Wincor Nixdorf, NORD/LB will not only achieve more flexibility and a significant reduction in its IT costs as part of its 'more provider strategy', but also optimize its IT architecture in the long term and at the same time take account of technological development," as Richard Arnold, head of IT operations at NORD/LB, explained.

Richard Schlauri responsible as Vice President at Wincor Nixdorf for Global Outsourcing and Managed Services sees this deal as a confirmation of the company's solution expertise in the banking sector: "With this new order we are continuing to expand our IT services business to become a recognized specialist for the management of complex IT outsourcing projects."
