Tesco, the UK's largest retailer, has become the latest business to renew its commercial partnership with WorldPay, the UK's leading payments acquirer.

The contract renewal means that Streamline, responsible for WorldPay's face to face payments, will continue to provide Tesco with its Visa card acquiring service for its stores across the UK and the Republic of Ireland and for its Tesco.com services.

Tesco placed great emphasis on securing a partner that was able to provide its stores with a system that was both highly reliable and fast. Tesco re-appointed WorldPay based on its ability to provide a robust and efficient service capable of meeting its high transaction volume requirements and reliable support at all times.

Michael Fletcher, Corporate Procurement Director at Tesco comments: "As the UK's largest retailer, it is critical that the acquiring service we use is capable of handling the large volumes of card transactions which we experience on a daily basis and able to offer reliable support to us at peak trading times. WorldPay's acquiring service is an ideal fit with our card transaction requirements."

Matt Rowsell, Chief Commercial Officer at Streamline comments: "We are delighted that our relationship with Tesco is continuing. As a key and valued client we look forward to developing our partnership over the coming years, working to ensure we both remain at the top of our game."

He added: "We are committed to delivering the best service available to all of our clients, and continuing to focus on innovation to provide merchants with market-leading payment processing solutions."
