Swift goes on hiring spree for new Apac corporate hub

Interbank messaging network Swift is establishing a corporate hub in Asia Pacific, at sites in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, employing 100 people.

Complementing similar sites in the US and Europe, a corporate services centre will be built in Kuala Lumpur, focusing on IT development, qualification testing, support, finance, human resources and operational functions.

The new centre is expected to employ 100 staff by 2015 but in the short term, a management structure will be put in place and local hiring will start by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the organisation will increase its presence in Singapore, where it already houses a commercial team as well as standards and marketing experts who have global roles.

Gottfried Leibbrandt, CEO, Swift, says: "The new corporate hub is a key milestone that strongly supports our ambitious growth strategy for the region. By 2015 we will have dramatically increased our resources in Asia Pacific, which is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of our global business."

Swift's annual Sibos event takes place this year in Osaka, and in 2015 will return to Singapore for the second time, reflecting the growing importance of the Asia Pacific economies in global trade flows.
