Bank of New Zealand launches small business Web banking service

Bank of New Zealand has launched a Web banking service specifically designed for small to mid-size businesses.

The bank says its Internet Banking for Business service is aimed at businesses with ten staff or less, but can also be used by customers who require two signatories on an account, or need to make multiple payments.

Mike Skilling, general manager, business, Bank of New Zealand, says prior to the launch, many business customers used the bank's PC Banking product, which is geared toward large corporate organisations.

"Customers had to either fill in a number of different forms and fax them to us, or save the data onto a disk and then courier the disk to our processing centre, so this new service will save customers time, save them money and reduce the chance of error," says Skilling.

The service will enable small and mid-size business customers to provide staff with access to online services and define the authorisation level for each user. Customers can also set up a one-off template to pay bills and payroll on a regular basis.
