Barclays to recruit 700 staff at Dallas tech hub

Barclays has opened a technology hub in Dallas which will host up to 700 IT staff working on everything from fixed income trading platforms to mobile banking services.

Barclays says most of the employees will be new recruits, brought on board over the next 18 months, working on services for both retail and investment banking around the world.

A spokesman says the bank is seeking to attract innovative people from outside the industry to the Dallas centre who can bring a fresh perspective in shaping the next generation of digital services.

"The aim is to attract innovators who can help us drive the transformation and strategic integration of global innovation platforms," says the spokesman.

Earlier this year, chief executive Antony Jenkins predicted that the increasing digitisation and automation of services could profoundly change Barclays' structure over the next few years, resulting in a massively reduced headcount.
