ProfPay, the ecommerce provider for African markets, has chosen Ukash, the global online cash payment provider, to help Ghanaians and Nigerians play online games, pay and shop on the web.
The new agreement offers access to easy, international, online payments from Ukash, without the need for traditional banking information - a key step for Africans keen to embrace the online world.
ProfPay operates a multi-method payment gateway and an Online Mall, designed to remove the barriers African consumers face when transacting online - whether it's playing games or shopping or paying for services. Figures suggest that the ecommerce market in Africa will grow to $75 billion by 2025, making it 10% of all retail sales*. However, today Africans encounter huge issues participating in the online world due to concerns about security and a lack of bank accounts and postal addresses.
ProfPay is backed by some of Africa's leading entrepreneurs and its partnership with Ukash forms part of its commitment to helping consumers in Africa gain access to the benefits of the internet. The Ukash online payment solution allows Ghanaians and Nigerians to visit an Ecobank branch to pay with cash and load funds onto their ProfPay Wallet, they can then use the funds in the Wallet to buy Ukash vouchers within the ProfPay Gateway. They can then spend their Ukash at hundreds of websites worldwide.
"This partnership with ProfPay supports our mission to enable inclusion for everyone in the online revolution, wherever they live in the world - and however they choose to transact," says Miranda McLean, Marketing Director, Ukash. "With no need for bank account or credit card information, Ukash is the ideal solution for Africans, who currently face a number of hurdles to playing and paying online.
"We continue to forge strategic partnerships in key, emerging markets, such as Africa, to bring more consumers secure and convenient access to online payments."
Kwame Acheampong, Founder and CIO of ProfPay adds: "Ukash already has a strong reputation in growing consumer markets worldwide, as well as an established network of merchants in the UK and globallly. By working closely with Ukash, we can bring Nigerians and Ghanaians the convenience of playing and paying with cash online.
"Ukash also plays an important role in enabling social and financial inclusion for those who do not have access to banking or credit facilities. This makes it the ideal partner to help ProfPay bring more Africans the convenience of online shopping worldwide."
