Wincor Nixdorf has installed more than 2,000 BEETLE /M-II POS systems, including peripherals, at 1,100 stores of the Spanish discount supermarket chain DIA and will provide service for them for three years.
DIA therefore now has a total of more than 4000 stores with POS systems from Wincor Nixdorf in operation in Spain.
DIA took over all the stores of the former German drugstore chain Schlecker in Spain and commissioned Wincor Nixdorf to integrate them seamlessly along with the POS systems in its existing store network within ten days. The IT company was able to achieve the customer's tight timeframe for rollout of the systems thanks to precise staging of hardware and software according to customer's environment and immediate nationwide coordination of transportation and installation.
"With more than 80 technicians and a project management team, we successfully accomplished installation of the POS systems at the new DIA stores in just ten days without interrupting their operations and opening hours," said Eduardo Ortiz, who is responsible for the Services Business at Wincor Nixdorf in Spain.
Wincor Nixdorf will also be providing services to ensure system availability. They comprise rapid recovery in the event of problems and regular system maintenance.
