Plus reports strong H1 volumes

Plus announced strong reported flow in the first half of the year with a total of 5,063,258 bargains representing an increase of 135.65% against the same period last year.

By trade value, PLUS posted almost £30 billion (£29.93 billion) up 76.85%, while the number of shares traded rose 216.92%, up to over 36 billion compared with the first half of 2008.

Monthly market report

Despite June being a quiet month in comparison with the rest of the year to date, flow on PLUS' quote driven market remained consistently robust in June 2009 when compared with June 2008. Year on year, bargains increased 116.76% to 685,759, while turnover rose by 100% to almost £5 billion (£4,869,795,681), and volumes surged to 5.48 billion up 239% against the same month in 2008.

Market share

In the May Thomson Reuters MiFID market share report* PLUS recorded over 6% by volume and 2% by value of UK equities, and in the FTSE 100, the exchange garnered almost 6% market share by volume.
