Google recently announced that Chrome Frame is
out of beta.
If you're not aware of Chrome Frame, it's a lightweight plugin for Internet Explorer that allows selected websites/apps to run in the Google Chrome engine inside IE. In a sense it's a plugin just like Flash, Silverlight or Java. But instead of a proprietary
environment, it gives you the open-standard HTML5 web with blazing performance --
in your old browser. In other words, it makes IE behave like Chrome.
For users in large institutions who have difficulty upgrading their browser, it is a potentially compelling proposition.
It's being suggested that this could
change the game for single-dealer platforms. At least one global tier-1 bank is already rolling out Chrome Frame internally to allow it deploy high-performance web apps immediately without having to upgrade all the older browsers.
