VocaLink appoints aviation expert to head up new regulatory division

VocaLink has appointed a former aviation industry executive to lead a new regulatory unit which will lead the company's engagement with the new Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) and help navigate the firm through the changing UK payments landscape.

Appointed as chief regulatory officer, Andrew Williams-Fry joins VocaLink from the aviation industry where he was chief economist for Gatwick Airport, leading the response to the Civil Aviation Authority’s regulatory review; he was also responsible for the economic case for Gatwick’s second runway proposal. Prior to this role, Williams-Fry was head of regulation at air traffic management body NATS.

With the introduction of the PSR and its initial focus on the provision of payments infrastructure, Williams-Fry will head up a new regulatory and corporate affairs division at VocaLink.

David Yates, chief executive officer at VocaLink, says: "With the PSR’s review into the payments market underway, Andrew’s considerable experience and knowledge of regulatory initiatives will strengthen my management team as the payments landscape continues to evolve.”
