Conde takes up chairmanship at Calastone

Funds transaction network Calastone has appointed former SunGard chief Cristóbal Conde as executive chairman.

Conde stepped down from SunGard in May 2011 and has since been an active investor in the booming fintech scene.

Most recently, he served as executive chairman at True Office, a compliance gamification startup which was sold to Nyse Governance Services earlier this month.

True Office emerged from the ranks of the Partnership for NYC Fund’s Fintech incubator for software companies, where Conde remains as a senior adviser.

He also recently took up a non-executive role at fast growing open source analytics company Open Gamma.

Conde's appointment at seven-year old Calastone follows an earlier investment in the privately-held business, which he joined as a non-executive board member in January 2014.

He takes up his new post immediately and will work alongside chief executive Julien Hammerson.

Says Conde: "This is an exciting time for Calastone and I am proud to be working with Julien and the management team as they execute the roadmap to strengthen the already accelerating growth trajectory, continuing to put customers first and deliver an excellent service.”

Calastone currently claims more than 450 clients and 4200 network connections, doubling message volumes year-on-year since launch.

In September, the company secured a further $18 million injection in a funding round led by Accel Partners with a view to growing its business in Asia Pacific and Europe and expanding its product range.
