PayPal brings One Touch to 13 new countries

PayPal helped pioneer seamless digital payments more than a decade ago, enabling consumers to checkout with only a username and password while tokenizing consumer data to keep payment credentials secure.

Today, in a world where commerce is increasingly mobile, consumers and merchants want to connect in even more frictionless ways, shoppers demand secure push-button checkout experiences, and passwords and usernames seem redundant -- PayPal is again leading the way.

One year ago this month, we launched One Touch™ with PayPal across mobile. Earlier this year, we brought One Touch to the Web so that US consumers could pay with a single touch, and we expanded One Touch to Canada and the UK shortly after. Today, we’re extending One Touch to 13 new markets, including: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. Eligible merchants in these markets will automatically have One Touch enabled, without needing to do any integration. We’re also excited to report we’ve rolled out One Touch to 100% of eligible US consumers. Today, more than 50% of the IR 500 and hundreds of thousands of merchants around the world -- including Overstock.com, Eat24, The Home Depot and Beyond the Rack -- have One Touch enabled for their customers, and millions of consumers have opted-in to use One Touch globally.

Consumers who opt-in to One Touch can securely checkout across all eligible merchants without needing to enter a username, password or payment information, so long as they are using the same device. Consumers must have a PayPal account to checkout with One Touch. You can sign up for a PayPal account here. Consumers will know they have access to One Touch when they see the “Stay Logged In” checkbox when checking out with PayPal. You can learn more about One Touch at PayPal.com/OneTouch. Consumers in the US will also be able to opt-in via PayPal.com/OneTouch beginning today, and in the coming weeks consumers globally will be able to opt-in even if they’re not part of the initial rollout.

One Touch is the biggest change to online shopping in more than a decade. It is a faster, safer way for consumers to check out at merchant sites, whether in mobile apps, on mobile web or online -- across platforms and payment types. Since launching One Touch, we’ve gotten phenomenal feedback from consumers and merchants alike. One Touch has led to a 50% or greater improvement in conversion of PayPal on mobile and we believe ushers in a major upgrade in the way consumers and merchants will connect in the coming decade.
