Mozido, a cloud platform mobile payments and retail engagement solutions provider, today announced it has named Ron Hynes, the former executive vice president of global prepaid solutions at MasterCard Worldwide, as President Global Markets.

“The addition of Ron is a huge win for Mozido,” said Michael Liberty, founder of Mozido and chairman of global strategic initiatives. “His passion for global financial inclusion and his belief in the role mobile payments will play is well-matched for the Mozido executive team. He was at the center of some of the world’s largest financial inclusion programs around the world over the past few years at MasterCard, and we are excited to bring that expertise to the Mozido executive team.”

Hynes will oversee Mozido’s operations in the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, India, China and Asia Pacific. Hynes has more than 15 years of payments experience with the last ten almost exclusively in prepaid and has served in a variety of leadership roles in that industry during his career. Immediately prior to joining Mozido, Hynes was executive vice president of global prepaid solutions at MasterCard Worldwide, where he led MasterCard’s strategy and execution for prepaid around the world. During his tenure the business saw tremendous growth in revenue and significant share gains globally.

“I am first and foremost passionate about driving financial inclusion for the world’s underserved,” said Hynes. “I’m a firm believer in Mozido’s mission to progress via access to mobile financial services for the 2.5 billion people around the world that are not included today. Technology will play a large role in bringing mobile payments to a tipping point and Mozido’s vision of creating ecosystems to deliver our services in regions around the world will give us a leg up on the competition. Our close partnership with MasterCard is at the center of our strategy.”
